Criminal Justice Engagement Volunteer (Warwickshire)

Hours:
Dependent on availability and demand.

At Cranstoun, our teams are motivated by 3 things:

  • Facilitating positive change
  • Creating a safer world

Our values of ambition, collaboration, compassion, creativity and respect underpin everything we do.

Are you passionate about making a difference? Are you a good listener? Can you motivate people to change? Are you comfortable working with vulnerable people? Would you like to gain experience in the criminal justice sector? Do you have lived experience of substance use and/or the criminal justice system, or an understanding of the issues faced by people who use drugs and alcohol, and who commit crime?

Do you have an enthusiasm for delivering a service that supports these individuals to make positive changes to their behaviour, health and well-being.

If so, this volunteering role is a great opportunity for you.

Our Warwickshire Arrest Referral service support people affected by alcohol and/or substance use who are involved in the criminal justice system, following arrest/pre-court hearings. The service offers harm minimisation advice and support to reduce the likelihood of reoffending. Following assessment, our Arrest Referral Workers make referrals into community drug and alcohol services for follow-on support.

Our mission is to keep individuals and communities safer, and volunteers can help us to do this.

The volunteer role is to support the individual to engage with the community service they have been referred to. This involves offering check-ins (either telephone or face-to-face) in-between referral and their initial appointment with the community service, and by accompanying them to the first appointment.

By engaging with appropriate services in the community, the aim is that the individual can make positive changes towards reducing their substance use, and decreasing the likelihood of them reoffending.

You will receive extensive training and support for this role. Out-of-pocket expenses will be paid.

All roles within this service are subject to enhanced DBS checks.
