Responsibilities

  • To provide specialist occupational therapy service to children & young people with eating disorders.
  • To undertake comprehensive assessments of each patient’s needs to formulate individualised management & treatment plans.
  • To provide specialist advice to patients with eating disorders deemed to be a high physical risk.
  • To identify patients at high physical risk, including the risk of refeeding syndrome, and provide appropriate nutritional advice regarding the management of risk, together with liaison with the MDT regarding management of risk in these patients, linking with medical and dietetic colleagues in the other eating disorders teams and with acute medical services as necessary.
  • Deliver a range of non-pharmacological interventions following specific Occupational Therapy assessments to enable understanding of any unmet needs and to maximise an individual’s abilities.
  • Complete and contribute to robust risk assessments & risk management plans.
  • Utilise agreed outcome measures as part of the care planning & evaluation process.
Main duties of the job
  • Lead and manage the specialist Occupational Therapy caseload within the CAMHS Eating Disorders Service.
  • Assess, plan, deliver and review personalised care with children, young people and their families.
  • Deliver and coordinate non-pharmacological occupational therapy interventions to support independence and community living.
  • Complete risk assessments and contribute to risk management, promoting positive risk-taking where appropriate.
  • Monitor outcomes and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions.
  • Maintain clear, accurate clinical records and reports.
  • Contribute to service development, clinical governance, audit and quality improvement.
  • Support the training and development of students, staff, carers and service users.
  • Work in line with HCPC, RCOT and NICE guidance, maintaining ongoing professional development.
