Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm - AAA Screening Technician

Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work for the National Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) Screening Programme within the Nottinghamshire multi‑professional team. The Programme aims to reduce the number of people who die from an AAA in the eligible population. Those eligible for screening are men aged 65 or older, registered with a GP.

• Organise and conduct abdominal ultrasound scans on eligible men aged 65+ in community and hospital‑based clinics across Nottinghamshire, following national and local guidelines.
• Transport portable ultrasound equipment and clinic supplies to various locations.
• Undertake, record clinical measurements and other patient information as required.
• Inform patients of their results, offering support and further information.
• Deal with anxious patients and relatives with tact, empathy, patience and discretion.
• Attend meetings and training sessions.
• Maintain clinical skills, AAA screening knowledge and continuous professional development.

• Full current UK driving licence and access to a car during work hours.
• Complete and pass the Level 3 Health Screening Diploma (HSD) in AAA Screening (or be willing to obtain it).
• Complete and pass the AAA yearly re‑accreditation.
• Strong commitment to health care provision, excellent organisational skills, dependability and willingness to work within a small team.
