Receptionist – Clinical Investigations Unit

12-Month Fixed Term Contract or Secondment

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join the Clinical Investigations Unit at Wexham Park Hospital, part of Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust. We are seeking a professional and personable Receptionist to work on the front line within our busy Cardiology Department. This is a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient running of outpatient reception services, supporting both patients and clinical staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide a warm, friendly, and professional welcome to patients and visitors
  • Deliver excellent customer service to both internal and external stakeholders
  • Manage patient check-ins and appointment queries efficiently
  • Support the clinical team with administrative duties as required
  • Ensure reception areas are well organised and operate effectively

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong communication and organisational skills, a positive and proactive approach, and the ability to remain calm in a busy healthcare environment.

Main duties of the job
  • To develop and maintain effective working relationships with all Trust staff including clinicians, nursing staff and Directorate administration staff to provide an accurate, efficient, professional and seamless service to patients and visitors.
  • To ensure patient case notes and clinic lists are available before the commencement of the clinic.
  • To check patient details are correct and amend or update details on EPIC when necessary in accordance to standards set by Information Governance.

  • GSCE English or equivalent
  • Good IT skills. Microsoft packages including Outlook, Word, and Excel
Skills & Knowledge

Essential criteria

  • Good administrative skills, organised and methodical, with good attention to detail including spelling, grammar and accuracy
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to remain calm under pressure when working in a busy environment
  • Ability to work on own initiative, and also as part of a team, self motivated, flexible approach
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge/use of EPIC
Experience

Essential criteria

  • Dealing with the public/customer service
  • Previous clerical experience
  • Ability to adapt using different systems as appropriate
