About the Role

The Safer Business Food Team within the Environmental Health and Public Protection Service is seeking an Environmental Health Officer or Food Safety and Standards Officer (with Higher Certificate and the two additional module endorsements). You will be joining a collaborative, experienced team dealing with the full range of food premises related issues in a diverse business sector.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A CIEH accredited degree or diploma in Environmental Health or equivalent or the Higher Certificate in Food Premises Inspection; and EHRB registration or equivalent.
  • Experience of the food safety regulatory environment.
  • Knowledge of the food industry and the practical application of safe production methods.
  • An ability to prioritise workloads, work to targets, record data accurately and maintain a high level of professional competence.
  • Persuasive and assertive communication skills, as the service objective is as much about supporting businesses to learn and grow as it is about securing compliance through formal interventions when needed.
