We are seeking an experienced and forward‑thinking leader to head our Information Services function within the Performance and Information directorate within our Digital Transformation and Information function. Reporting to the Director of Performance and Information, this senior role is pivotal in shaping how high‑quality data, insight and intelligence support decision‑making across the Trust.

As Head of Information Services, you will lead teams responsible for Data Quality, Clinical Coding, Contracting & CDS, and a highly skilled cohort of analysts. You will oversee the delivery of accurate statutory reporting, drive improvements in data quality, and champion the development of innovative BI solutions that strengthen clinical governance, operational performance, and strategic planning. The staff in this team largely work remotely and this is a therefore hybrid based role.

This is a role for someone with deep specialist knowledge of NHS information management, exceptional communication skills, an attention to detail and a proven ability to lead teams. As part of the management team you will play a key part in modernising our digital infrastructure, expanding our BI capabilities, and ensuring the Trust continues to meet national standards while delivering excellent outcomes for patients and staff.

Main duties of the job

Ability to communicate highly complex statistical data to a variety of audiences, both technical and non‑technical.

Formulating long term strategic plans

In depth specialist knowledge of information management and performance in the NHS .

Ability to interpret, draw conclusions from and implications of results statistical, performance and public health analyses to a wide range of internal and external staff.

Strong understanding of clinical coding classifications, coding standards and grouping rules within NHS contracting & commissioning.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Responsible for Data Quality, Clinical Coding and Contracting & CDS teams.

Deputise for the Director Performance and Information where required .

To be accountable for the deliver y of a high quality information and performance monitoring service on behalf of the Trust the postholder must work closely with clinicians and all levels of management within the Trust, the local host Clinical Commissioning Group and other commissioners. The post holder will establish working relationships with other external NHS organisations, e.g. the NHS England, DoH , Other NHS Providers etc.

The post holder will be corporately responsible for monitoring performance against national and local targets and develop processes and procedures for such monitoring across the Trust.

The post holder will manage a team of highly skilled analysts , Clinical Coders and data quality officers and will be responsible for the day to day management, including performance monitoring, appraisals, etc.

Developing policies and procedures in relation to Information and Data Quality

Develops and monitors budgets for Information Services

Work with the NUH organisation to convert strategic objectives into intelligence and analysis.
