Position: Specialist Safeguarding Practitioner (Adults & MCA)

Job Summary

Nottingham City Care Partnership are looking to recruit an experienced registered professional to fulfil the role of Specialist Safeguarding Practitioner (Adults & MCA). The successful candidate will join our integrated safeguarding team, working principally across the adults safeguarding agenda.

The role is part-time, working 15 hours per week, and involves providing safeguarding advice, training, supervision, and support to the City Care workforce, with a particular focus on Community Nursing. The post also engages in policy development, audit, incident reviews, and multi‑agency collaboration.

Job Description
  • Provide safeguarding advice, supervision, training and support to frontline staff.
  • Adopt and promote a Think Family approach when considering the needs of dependents.
  • Support the application of the Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards.
  • Conduct audits, reviews and develop action plans across the organisation.
  • Represent Nottingham City Care Partnership at multi‑agency safeguarding meetings and forums.
  • Ensure safe and lawful information sharing and safeguard policy compliance.
  • Deliver training programmes and evaluate their effectiveness.
  • Engage in supervision with Lead Professionals and contribute to evidence‑based practice.
  • Provide written and verbal reporting of incidents, complaints and near misses.
Person Specification

Skills & Attributes – Essential

  • Sound knowledge of abuse, neglect and safeguarding concepts.
  • Expertise in consent and the Mental Capacity Act.
  • Reflective practitioner with strong communication and influencing skills.
  • Understanding of national safeguarding policy and local procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Priority management, problem‑solving and networking abilities.
  • Proficient IT and keyboard skills.
  • Commitment to professional development and ability to supervise.
  • Adaptable, flexible and emotionally resilient.

Desirable

  • Experience motivating and developing teams.
  • Strong record of managing complex problems.
  • Commitment to trauma‑informed practice.
  • Willingness to adapt role as services evolve.

Qualifications – Essential

  • Registered practitioner (NMC, AHP, SWE).
  • Degree level education or equivalent experience.
  • Evidence of relevant professional development.
  • Completion of Level 3 Safeguarding training.

Desirable

  • Masters degree.
  • Mentorship, supervision or teaching qualification.
  • Expanded Safeguarding training or BIA qualification.

Experience – Essential

  • Three years of safeguarding experience with a caseload.
  • Experience supporting organisational change and multi‑agency working.
  • Experience of supervising and leading in a safeguarding context.
  • Extensive experience with adults and knowledge of safeguarding application.

Desirable

  • Experience of safeguarding children.
Disclosures and Registration

Applicants must hold current UK professional registration. A Disclosure and Barring Service check will be required under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975.
