To be part of a team delivering high quality, efficient radiographic service. To provide highly skilled and specialised imaging for patients, to make informed decisions on the diagnostic imaging required and to demonstrate a professional, caring and responsible approach to the duties carried out.
Main duties of the job- Work as a radiographer to a high professional standard and provide assistance, training and guidance to others, mainly radiographers, helpers and students.
- Be responsible for the standard of own imaging work and that of supervised radiographers and students.
- Administer IV contrast according to Spire protocol.
- Maintain knowledge of technical and clinical developments; attend professional training and provide feedback.
- Ensure efficient throughput of patient examinations, managing appointments and preparation.
- Ensure patients are cared for, communicate delays and examination findings within HPC standards.
- Check patient details prior to examination, ensure request forms are complete and justified per protocol and regulations; refuse inappropriate requests.
- Ensure patients are not pregnant prior to relevant procedures.
- On completion of examination, inform patients how results will be received; arrange transport if necessary; send films to clinicians for reporting.
- Observe radiation safety measures and comply with Ionising Radiation Regulations 1999, IR(ME)
R 2000 and other legislation. - Ensure all images are properly identified and stored in PACS; enter information into RIS.
- Maintain workflow, prioritise requests, achieve good throughput.
- Report identified abnormalities to clinicians for urgent reporting.
- Implement and maintain Spire radiology procedures.
- Participate in medical/clinical audit of examinations.
- Adhere to all Spire policies:
Health & Safety, COSHH, Security, Radiation Safety, etc.; attend compulsory training. - Ensure all apparatus and equipment are working safely; report malfunctions, delays and faults to the Radiographer in charge; record in logbook.
- Assist in keeping accurate documentation.

Qualifications & Experience- Diploma or Degree in Radiography.
- HPC Registration.
- Evidence of substantial CPD in clinically related subjects.
- IV injection certificate of competence.
- Previous experience as a radiographer in an imaging department.
- Competence across a range of radiographic skills supported by professional and specialist knowledge.
- Evidence of post‑registration ongoing CPD.
- Knowledge of appropriate standards and external bodies such as the Care Quality Commission.
