The Substance Misuse Team at HMP Nottingham are seeking a dynamic enthusiastic experienced Senior Substance Misuse Nurse to join the team. We are looking for someone who enjoys a challenge, can work well within a team and autonomously.

As a key member of the Substance Misuse Service, you'll lead on mental health assessments and care for residents with dual diagnosis needs. You'll work autonomously, managing your own caseload, and collaborate closely with the prison's mental health team, psychosocial services, and wider healthcare colleagues.
Your Responsibilities Will Include:- Delivering specialist clinical and mental health interventions
- Conducting comprehensive assessments and risk evaluations
- Administering medication and opioid substitution therapy
- Supporting service development and continuous improvement
- Supervising junior staff and contributing to team leadership
- Promoting trauma-informed care and health education
- RMN qualification with post‑graduate education or equivalent experience
- RCGP Level 1 (or working towards) in Substance Misuse
- Non‑medical prescribing qualification
- Strong assessment, caseload management, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team
- IT literacy and familiarity with clinical systems (e.g. Systm One)
- Experience in substance misuse and mental health care
- Experience in prison or secure settings
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
