To be part of a team delivering high quality, efficient radiographic service. To provide highly skilled and specialised imaging for patients, to make informed decisions on the diagnostic imaging required and to demonstrate a professional, caring and responsible approach to the duties carried out. To ensure the team delivers effective imaging by providing appropriate clinical leadership, educational and development expertise.
Main duties of the job- Work as a Radiographer to a high professional standard and provide assistance, training and guidance to others, mainly to radiographers, helpers and students, to maintain these standards.
- Be responsible for the standard of own imaging work and that of other supervised radiographers and students; this standard is set by Spire.
- Administer IV contrast in accordance with Spire protocol.
- Maintain knowledge of technical and clinical developments, attend professional training/development courses as appropriate and provide feedback that benefits the service.
- Ensure an efficient throughput of patient examinations, advising on appointment booking and preparation as required.
- Ensure that patients are cared for in the department, communicate delays, and describe examination findings in line with HPC standards.
- Check patient details prior to examination, confirm accuracy on request forms/computer, justify requests per Spire protocol and statutory regulations (IR(ME)
R) and refuse inappropriate requests. - Confirm patients are not pregnant prior to certain procedures.
- Inform patients how they will receive results and arrange transport if necessary; send films to the clinician for reporting.
- Observe radiation safety measures, ensuring compliance with the Ionising Radiation Regulations 1999, IR(ME)
R 2000, and other relevant legislation. - Identify all images with patient name, side examined, and date of examination; store films in PACS and enter data into the RIS.
- Manage own workflow and that of others within the designated area, prioritise requests and maintain throughput.
- Notify clinicians of identified abnormalities to enable urgent reporting.
- Implement and maintain Spire radiology procedures.
- Participate in the medical/clinical audit of examinations.
- Adhere to Spire policies on Health and Safety, COSHH, Security, and radiation regulations; attend compulsory training as instructed.
- Ensure apparatus and equipment work satisfactorily and safely; report malfunctions, unreasonable repair delays, and log faults.
- Assist the Radiographer in charge in keeping accurate and appropriate documentation.

Qualifications- Diploma or Degree in Radiography (BSc Honours in Radiography or equivalent)
- HPC Registration
- Evidence of substantial CPD in clinically related and relevant subjects
- IV injection certificate of competence
- Previous experience as a Radiographer in an imaging department
- Knowledge of appropriate standards and external bodies, such as the Care Quality Commission
- Competence across a range of radiographic skills supported by professional and specialist knowledge.
- Evidence of post‑registration continual professional development in relevant short courses.
- Knowledge of standards and external bodies (e.g., Care Quality Commission).
