The Trainee High Intensity Therapist (HIT) programme is a fixed‑term role for the September 2026 cohort at the University of Nottingham. The role involves
- three days of clinical practice with the service each week
- two days of university training (face‑to‑face on Wednesdays and remote learning on Thursdays)
- remote clinical work, with one late shift per week from 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm if required
- high‑intensity CBT interventions recommended by NICE for clients with moderate to severe common mental health disorders
- weekly supervision from both the workplace and the University
Applicants should meet the following core and additional requirements
- Core Professional training or qualification, or demonstrated meet of BABCP KSA requirements
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent in a discipline connected to mental health, or ability to study at third‑year undergraduate level
- Membership of the BABCP (from the time the course commences)
- Availability to attend university classes as required
- Experience working in mental‑health services, including risk management
- Experience working in Primary Care/IAPT services
- Experience in a service where agreed targets demonstrate clinical outcomes
- Willingness to travel, including overnight stays, as required
- Evidence of foundation level or sustained CPD in CBT
- Evidence of supervised CBT practice
- Shortlisted applicants must be available for interviews: LLR – to be confirmed;
Derbyshire – to be confirmed;
Nottinghamshire – w/c 6th July 2026 (all interviews via Microsoft Teams) - Applicants must be available to commence the role and attend induction on 14 September 2026 (remote with VHG) and first day of university induction on 21 September 2026, with teaching starting w/c 28 September 2026.
- Completion of KSA portfolio must be submitted by mid‑September (confirmation required)
- A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be required for appointment
- Applicants who completed an NHS or HEE‑funded psychological professions training programme within the last two years are not eligible to apply
- Applicants must have the right to work in the UK without restriction and be eligible for Home Fee status; visa holders must ensure their visa permits UK work and study
