Health Visitor - Specialist Public Health Practitioner

The closing date is 23 July 2026

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic Specialist Public Health Practitioner (Health Visitor) to join our Integrated Healthy Families Team within the Rushcliffe North Locality.

Rushcliffe North Healthy Family Team provides a quality service delivering the Healthy Child Programme to the local population. We are an integrated service, working with children and young people aged 0-19 and their families. Care is delivered in line with the National and Local guidelines and public health priorities.

Main duties of the job

You will work as part of a team to deliver universal and targeted health services to the 0-19 year population and will be responsible for the day‑to‑day leadership of a defined caseload, managing and supporting a skill mix team.

You will be expected to develop excellent partnership working relationships in order to provide seamless services to Children, Young people and their families.

This post requires a knowledgeable practitioner with excellent communication skills and a desire to develop their leadership and management skills. You will possess the Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (Health Visitor) qualification.

We offer a comprehensive induction package and a friendly, supportive working environment with excellent development opportunities.

We support agile working, when appropriate and to meet the needs of the service.

About us

We comprise over 11,000 dedicated colleagues delivering intellectual disability, mental health, community health, forensic, and offender healthcare services across Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, and South Yorkshire. Our care is provided from over 200 sites.

We are one of the largest mental health and community Trusts in the East Midlands and one of Nottinghamshire's biggest employers.

We offer a variety of employee‑led staff networks supporting an inclusive culture.

The health and wellbeing of our colleagues is a top priority with in‑house occupational health and staff counselling services.

The Trust is committed to reducing its carbon emissions as part of a net‑zero commitment.

Job responsibilities

The role will include services to antenatal women, completion of the Healthy Child Programme for under 5s, enhanced programmes of care within school and community settings for the 5‑19 age group, breast‑feeding support, and a strong element of leadership for the skill mix 0‑19 cluster team.

A full UK driving licence and vehicle for business use is required for this post; reasonable adjustments will be made for disabled individuals in line with the Equality Act 2010.

Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced); this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first 2 months of employment.

You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service. An annual fee of £16 per year applies.

Please note that this post does not meet the pay level required for a Skilled worker visa.

Successful applicants with no prior NHS experience would normally be placed at the bottom of the band in line with Agenda for Change. This salary is below the minimum salary required for sponsorship for a Skilled Worker / Health & Care visa.
