Job Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist with an interest in Neuropsychology to join the Nottingham Community Stroke Team (CST) on a temporary basis. The role is to provide psychological care to stroke patients up to twelve months post stroke within patient’s homes. The position is maternity cover until the end of May 2027, offered at 0.6 wte (8b) and may be offered at 0.7 wte (8a) depending on experience.

• Provide direct clinical work, consultation and training to staff regarding patients’ psychological/neuropsychological care.
• Support stepped‑care models for mood and cognition, and implement care pathways and protocols to assess and manage mood and cognition difficulties in accordance with national guidance.
• Deliver a high‑quality specialist Clinical Neuropsychology service for adults up to 12 months post stroke, including specialist neuropsychological assessment, cognitive rehabilitation, risk assessment, and coping and adjustment support.
• Liaise with associated hospital stroke wards and with colleagues in primary care, and support the CST team by offering advice, consultation, training and supervision regarding neuropsychological assessment and management of stroke.
• Engage in relevant CPD and networking to ensure best practice and conduct service in line with national guidelines.

• HCPC registered Clinical or Counselling Psychologist.
• Substantive experience of working with people with neurological conditions, including neuropsychological assessment.
• Completion of the knowledge component of the Qualification in Clinical Neuropsychology (QiCN) is an advantage.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong working relationships with a range of professionals, patients and families.
