Job Summary

This position offers the opportunity to work as a Radiographer within the Spire Nottingham Hospital bank team. The role focuses on delivering high‑quality, efficient radiographic service, providing specialized imaging for patients, and supporting clinical decision‑making.

Job Responsibilities
  • Work as a Radiographer to a high professional standard and provide assistance, training, and guidance to radiographers, helpers, and students.
  • Ensure the standards of own imaging work and that of supervised staff meet Spire’s criteria.
  • Administer IV contrast per Spire protocol.
  • Keep up to date with technical and clinical developments, attend professional training, and provide constructive feedback.
  • Maintain efficient throughput of patient examinations, offering advice on booking and preparation.
  • Provide patient care within the department, communicate delays, and describe findings where appropriate.
  • Check patient details before examination, ensuring records are accurate and justified per Spire protocol and statutory regulations. Use professional judgment to refuse inappropriate requests.
  • Confirm patients are not pregnant before suitable procedures.
  • Inform patients how results will be communicated and arrange transport if necessary; send films for clinician reporting.
  • Observe radiation safety measures and maintain personal Radiation Protection standards in line with the Ionising Radiation Regulations 1999 and IR(ME)
    R 2000.
  • Ensure all images are correctly identified (patient name, side, date) and stored in PACS; enter examination data into RIS.
  • Manage personal workflow and that of others in the designated area, prioritising requests to optimise throughput.
  • Alert clinicians to any identified abnormalities requiring urgent reporting.
  • Implement and maintain Spire radiology procedures.
  • Participate in medical/clinical audits of examinations.
  • Adhere to Spire policies on Health & Safety, COSHH, Security, Ionising Radiation Regulations, and local safety policies; attend mandatory training.
  • Confirm all apparatus and equipment is safe and functioning; report malfunctions, log faults, and assist with documentation.
Qualifications
  • Diploma or Degree in Radiography.
  • HPC Registration.
Experience
  • Substantial CPD in clinically relevant subjects.
  • IV injection certificate of competence.
  • Previous experience as a Radiographer in an imaging department.
  • Competence across a range of radiographic skills, supported by professional and specialist knowledge from a degree (BSc Honours in Radiography or equivalent).
  • Evidence of post‑registration professional development in relevant short courses.
  • Knowledge of standards and external bodies, including the Care Quality Commission.
