Activity Co‑ordinator
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic individual to join the Hopewood team as their new Activity Co‑ordinator to work across The Lookout Adolescent Unit. The successful candidate will work primarily on Pegasus Ward, Specialist Eating Disorder Unit but provide consistent, timetabled support to both Hercules Ward (Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit) and Phoenix Ward (General Adolescent Unit).
Key Responsibilities- Plan and facilitate daily individual and group activity programmes that provide therapeutic, social and physical activities, enhancing patients’ quality of life and supporting their physical and psychological well‑being.
- Organise and facilitate activities off the ward with patients.
- Work directly with patients and with the ward therapy and nursing teams to plan and deliver activities, assessing risk and developing engaging ideas.
- Support young people with mental health issues, remaining creative, dynamic and assessing risk when engaging them in activity.
- Carry out activities in the ward environment and in the local community.
- Work independently, initiating activity programmes under the guidance of a registered Occupational Therapist and the Ward Manager.
- Engage, form rapport and motivate people to participate in activities.
- Use own resourcefulness to deliver a variety of creative social and physical activities.
- Receive supervision and participate in an Activity Co‑ordinators network for support and training.
7‑day rota with weekends and occasional bank holidays.
Qualifications and Experience- Respectful, non‑judgemental and creative, with strong communication and problem‑solving skills.
- Experience of working with people with a mental health need is desirable, though not essential.
- Ability to work under own initiative with guidance from the Ward Manager, Occupational Therapist, Nursing and wider Therapy team.
