Direct Support Professional/ Direct Care, Caregiver
At Elevate Supported Living, we believe in transformational, person-centred support that empowers individuals to live meaningful and independent lives.
If you are passionate about making a genuine difference, committed to learning and growth, and aligned with our values of Integrity, Inclusion, Accountability, Innovation, and Service User Focus, then this could be the perfect opportunity for you.
We are recruiting a Team Leader to lead a small, consistent core team supporting one individual in a solo supported living placement in Nottingham, providing 2:1 support for 15 hours a day plus a waking night. We are looking for an experienced, caring, values-driven leader with a strong background in therapeutic and complex needs support, who can also lead, coach and quality-assure a small team.
EssentialRequirement — Occupational Requirement
Due to the personal care needs and expressed wishes of the person we support, this role can only be fulfilled by male applicants. This is applied as a genuine occupational requirement under Schedule 9, Part 1 of the Equality Act 2010, identified through the individual's assessment — it is not a general preference. It applies to all shifts on this placement, including waking nights.
AboutElevate Supported Living
Elevate provides standard and enhanced therapeutic & trauma-informed supported living services for adults with mental health needs, learning disabilities, and complex needs.
Our approach is built on:
- Service User Focus – placing the individual at the centre of everything we do
- Inclusion – creating environments where everyone feels valued, respected, and empowered
- Integrity – acting with honesty, transparency, and professionalism
- Accountability – taking ownership of our actions and delivering consistently high standards of care
- Innovation – using creative and therapeutic approaches to improve outcomes
We support individuals not just in their day-to-day lives, but in building confidence, independence, and future opportunities through access to education, training, employment, and social enterprise pathways.
The RoleAs Team Leader on this placement, you will:
- Lead, coach and coordinate a small, consistent core team of male support workers, ensuring a balanced mix across the three complementary support styles the individual responds best to (friendly/engaging rapport-builder, calm/steady de‑escalator, and hands‑on/practical coach)
- Hold day‑to‑day responsibility for the quality, consistency, and delivery of the care plan, and lead on its formulation, implementation, and review
- Deliver direct, person‑centred, therapeutic support yourself as part of the shift rota, alongside your leadership duties
- Ensure the physical, emotional, religious, educational, and psychological needs of the person we support are met within a safe and supportive environment
- Run regular supervision and reflective practice sessions with the team, modelling and reinforcing a calm, non‑confrontational, non‑restrictive approach
- Act as the first point of escalation for the team, including for incidents, rising anxiety/distress, or shift cover issues
- Promote independence by ensuring the team works alongside the individual on daily living skills (cooking, budgeting, shopping, household routines) – coaching rather than doing tasks for him
- Maintain oversight of the rota to ensure consistent 2:1 daytime cover and waking night cover, with no reliance on agency staff
- Be the main point of contact for the individual's family and multi‑agency partners, including statutory and voluntary sector professionals
- Enable access to education, employment, and community opportunities
- Maintain and audit accurate, high‑quality records in line with regulatory and organisational standards
- Act as a positive role model and senior presence within the team, demonstrating professionalism, consistency, and emotional resilience
- Full‑time, 40 hours per week (5 out of 7 days, including weekends)
- Shifts are not on a rotating pattern and cover the following hours:
- 08:00 – 16:00
- 10:00 – 20:00
- 12:00 – 20:00
- 08:00 – 20:00
A waking night shift is also part of the rota for this placement, and Team Leaders should expect to cover or oversee this on…
