A dedicated research session is incorporated into the timetable. Fellows are encouraged to participate in investigator-led and NIHR portfolio research, develop their own projects, present at national and international scientific meetings, and publish peer-reviewed papers. Previous fellows have developed an excellent publication record, with many achieving two or more peer-reviewed publications during their fellowship. The department has strong academic links with the University of Nottingham, including collaborations with NOVARC (Nottingham Ovarian Cancer Research Centre) and spectroscopy research groups, providing opportunities to develop grant applications and higher degree projects (MD/PhD) for interested candidates.
The post does not offer a higher degree directly. The post includes participation in the resident on-call rota (currently 1:9) together with a structured weekly timetable incorporating theatre, outpatient clinics, MDT participation, pre-operative assessment, ward care and dedicated research time. We welcome applications from enthusiastic doctors committed to delivering high-quality patient care, advancing research and contributing to the future development of Gynaecological Oncology services.
