Job overview

To assist in the creation, development and delivery of high quality clinical information.

The post holder will work within the Clinical Audit and Research Unit to provide accurate and timely clinical information using a variety of sources and formats, performing queries and statistical analysis in response to routine, scheduled and ad hoc information requests.

The role will include the collection, checking and maintenance of high quality clinical data within departmental information systems.

Main duties of the job
  • Assist with all aspects of information work within the Clinical Audit & Research Unit.
  • Assist in management and analysis of complex datasets using spreadsheets, databases and other software tools.
  • Prepare data from a range of sources.
  • Carry out checks for data quality and consistency, investigating discrepancies and taking action to resolve.
  • Validation of clinical information in line with procedures.
  • Reformatting and manipulating data appropriately.
  • Run and disseminate regular activity and performance reports using a wide range of data sources.
  • Ensure information is provided to a cycle of deadlines and timely, high quality reports are presented in line with departmental procedure
  • May be required to undertake preparation and submission of statutory and routine reporting as required.
  • Assist in the monitoring and improvement of patient care by utilising Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Quality Improvement (QI) methodologies as required.
  • Ensure the timely, accurate scanning and processing of paper patient report forms.
  • Respond to requests for both anonymised and patient identifiable information (PII) in a range of formats from internal and external stakeholders (e.g. police, coroners) in line with Caldicott, Data Protection and Information Governance.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
  • Assist with all aspects of information work within the Clinical Audit & Research Unit. This will include, but is not limited to, tasks relating to the EMAS Clinical Audit & Service Evaluation and Research Programmes, national and local Clinical Performance Indicators (CPIs) and national Ambulance Quality Indicators (ACQIs).
