Senior Clinical Research Officer

The Paedatric Oncology Research Team deliver a mixture of specialist paediatric oncology studies at NUH, working alongside the clinical paediatric oncology team, to work towards the shared goal of offering research opportunities to all patients who come through the service.

As a Band 6 Research Officer/Nurse, you will be expected to have good oversight of all studies within the Paediatric Oncology research team, whilst being responsible for the co-ordination and delivery for your own portfolio of studies ranging in complexity. You will co-ordinate day to day office activities, and be the main point of contact for staff regarding the PORT portfolio.

You will liaise with the wider CYPICS team, and will collect and report metrics from all sites within the Regional Centre being the main point of contact for this.

Excellent communication skills are a must, and you will need to use your own initiative, respond to queries in a diplomatic and professional manner and demonstrate excellent time management and organisational skills.

The Post Holder will be experienced in clinical trials delivery, ideally with recent experience with either paediatric and/or oncology clinical trials, and will perform work that will require a degree of responsibility and autonomy, including working unsupervised whilst seeing patients in the clinical areas.

For this role, is it essential to have good oversight of the whole paediatric oncology portfolio, whilst also have their own portfolio of studies to manage and oversee. With a key element of the role to ensure the studies deliver to time and target and to work closely with the set-up team to ensure feasibility is performed appropriately.

The role may involve completing and submitting documents to obtain local approval; collecting, recording and maintaining data for patients on the NIHR portfolio and other studies, providing guidance to other clinical, administrative and research staff, ensuring & organising research tests and investigations, preparing and shipping samples, and ensuring recruitment into clinical trials meets all targets.

The post holder will be working independently and with a wider team, work across both sites (QMC & NCH). Full support and training will be provided by to the post holder.
