Job Overview

Trent Regional Cleft Network is seeking a specialised Principal Speech and Language Therapist focusing on cleft palate and related disorders. The role will be employed by Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and based at the Trent Regional Cleft Centre on the Nottingham City Hospital Campus.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work closely with the Regional Lead SLT and a team of Specialist SLTs across the region to provide an effective regional cleft SLT service.
  • Act as the identified specialist managing the cleft caseload for an agreed area of the region.
  • Deputise for the Regional Lead SLT for Trent Regional Cleft Network as necessary.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary cleft team—surgeons, orthodontists, nurses, and psychologists—to ensure holistic care‑planning.
  • Provide CM higher level assessment and treatment, maintaining the highest possible standards of care.
  • Travel to outreach sites across the region for up to 50% of the time and commit to working on Fridays where required.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Broad paediatric experience with specialist knowledge of cleft palate and velopharyngeal dysfunction (VPD).
  • Capacity to motivate others and work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Highly motivated, compassionate and compassionate with excellent team‑working skills.
  • Current driving licence and willingness to travel and work away from the base.
Location and Working Conditions

The role is based at the Trent Regional Cleft Centre, Nottingham City Hospital Campus. A commitment to working on a Friday and traveling to outreach sites across the region will be required.
