Ophthalmic Science Practitioner​/Ophthalmic photographer

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

• To work as an autonomous practitioner in undertaking ophthalmic imaging using a variety of techniques, for patients of all ages, ranging from children to the elderly and who have various communication abilities.
• To work within the Ophthalmology virtual clinic, utilising additional clinical skills to complete a full assessment in line with the clinical protocols/procedures.
• Participate in the theoretical and clinical teaching of ophthalmic imaging to colleagues, students or other health professional visiting the department
• Maintain and enhance professional knowledge and skills required to undertake the role of ophthalmic science practitioner
• To participate in departmental audit and research projects
• Ensure compliance with infection control procedures.
• Ensure compliance with our clinical governance framework.

• Degree in photgraphy or equiavalent clinical experience within ophthalmic imaging

• Degree in ophthalmic imaging or related ophthalmic profession

• Recent ophthalmic imaging clinical experience

• Experience with in an ophthalmology virtual clinic service

• Communicates effectively using a variety of methods
• Adapts communication when barriers to understanding

• Knowledge of ocular anatomy, physiololgy and pathology
• Effective time management skills
• Ability to analyse quality of clinical images
• Ability to prioritise own workload and work as a team

• Able to work various shifts including weekdays weekends and bank holidays and varying hours between 7.00am and 8.00pm to support service as required
