About this roleYou’ll support Capital One UK’s Network Infrastructure, ensuring our technologies meet Capital One’s continuously updated requirements. This role encompasses technical analysis, project design/delivery, BAU service support, and contributes to the wider organization.
What you’ll do- Provide high‑tier operational support for the entire network and firewall infrastructure, participating in the 24/7 on‑call rotation.
- Act as the SME for at least one core technology platform, driving its future direction through lifecycle refreshes and continuous service improvements.
- Execute infrastructure changes driven by technology refreshes, BAU requirements, and strict security compliance standards.
- Rapidly diagnose and resolve complex network incidents while producing high‑quality supporting documentation.
- Build and maintain strong operational relationships with critical third‑party suppliers, carriers, and manufacturers.
- Utilize Agile and Kanban methodologies to streamline both project delivery and BAU functions.
- Deep Routing & Switching expertise – hands‑on experience with Cisco Enterprise Data Center and WAN components (ACI, NX‑OS, BGP).
- Security & SD‑WAN proficiency – robust technical knowledge of network security infrastructure, specifically Versa SD‑WAN and Palo Alto firewalls.
- Cloud networking savvy – solid understanding of AWS connectivity (Direct Connect, Transit Gateways, VPCs, Security Groups).
- Network automation & innovation – experience embedding automation in production environments and driving an “automation‑first” approach.
- Network diagnostics & monitoring – proficiency using Logic Monitor, Netbrain and Wireshark.
- Vendor & framework experience – ability to work effectively with virtual teams and varied third‑party supplier models using Agile/Kanban frameworks.
This is a permanent position based in our Nottingham office. We offer a hybrid working model: three days a week on site (Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays) and the rest from home. Flexible arrangements can be discussed.
