We're working with an established insurance business that is looking for a confident and technically knowledgeable Property Claims Handler to join their Nottingham team.

This is a great opportunity for someone with experience across domestic and/or commercial property claims who enjoys investigating losses, making well-informed decisions and helping customers through the claims process.

• As a Property Claims Handler, you'll take ownership of a varied caseload, managing claims from the initial instruction right through to resolution.
• You'll investigate the circumstances of each claim, establish the extent of cover, assess the loss and ensure each claim is handled accurately, fairly and efficiently.

• Taking ownership of a portfolio of domestic and/or commercial property claims through to settlement.
• Investigating claims thoroughly to establish coverage, liability, causation and quantum.
• Assessing different elements of a claim, including buildings, contents, alternative accommodation, mitigation, restoration, trace and access and professional fees.
• Reviewing surveyor reports, contractor estimates, schedules of works, photographs and other supporting evidence.
• Interpreting policy wordings, endorsements and exclusions to ensure accurate claim decisions are made.
• Working closely with policyholders, insurers, brokers, surveyors, contractors and restoration providers throughout the claims journey.
• Keeping customers informed and providing clear explanations around claim decisions and next steps.
• Negotiating appropriate settlements while working within delegated authority and client requirements.
• Recognising complex, high-value or potentially fraudulent claims and referring these for further investigation where necessary.
• Keeping detailed, accurate and up-to-date records across all claims.
• Ensuring all activity complies with FCA regulations, Consumer Duty and internal procedures.
• Supporting the wider team by sharing knowledge, identifying improvements and helping to maintain high standards of best practice.

We're looking for someone with:

• Previous experience handling domestic and/or commercial property insurance claims.
• A strong understanding of the property claims process from notification through to settlement.
• Experience assessing policy coverage, liability, causation, scope of loss and claim value.
• Knowledge of buildings, contents, alternative accommodation and other associated property claim costs.
• The ability to confidently assess technical reports, estimates, photographs and schedules of work.
• Experience working under delegated authority and making informed claim decisions.
• Previous experience within an FCA-regulated insurance environment.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with a range of stakeholders.
• Excellent organisation and attention to detail, with the ability to manage a varied caseload effectively.

• Experience dealing with complex, high-value or major loss property claims.
• Experience working across multiple insurer clients.
• Previous experience providing technical support, mentoring or guidance to colleagues.
• Cert CII, Cert CILA or another recognised insurance qualification, or currently working towards one.

• Salary circa £30,000
