Interim Insurance Manager - Local Authority

Interim Insurance Manager London Borough Council Circa £550 per day Interim contract | Hybrid working I am working with a London Borough Council to recruit an experienced Interim Insurance Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day management and delivery of the Council’s insurance function. The successful candidate will provide specialist insurance advice across the organisation, manage relationships with external insurers and brokers, and ensure the Council has appropriate insurance arrangements in place.

Key responsibilities Manage the Council’s insurance programme and associated policies Oversee insurance claims, including complex and high-value cases Manage relationships with insurers, brokers, loss adjusters and other external providers Lead on insurance renewals and ensure appropriate levels of cover are maintained Provide specialist advice to services across the Council Monitor claims trends, exposures and emerging risks Support improvements to insurance processes, controls and reporting Work closely with Risk, Finance, Legal and other internal teams Produce management information and reporting for senior stakeholders Experience required Strong insurance management experience within a complex organisation Experience managing claims and insurance programmes Strong knowledge of insurance policies, renewals and risk exposure Confident managing external brokers and insurers Strong stakeholder management and communication skills Previous local government or wider public sector experience would be highly desirable This would suit an experienced Insurance Manager / Senior Insurance Officer who can come in quickly and take ownership of the function.
