Description

Are you a Forensic Collision Investigator looking for your next challenge?

We are delighted to invite applications from experienced professionals who are keen to join our nationally recognised Catastrophic and Complex Injury Team. Led by Liz Jones, our industry-leading team comprises 30 partners and 81 lawyers based across the United Kingdom. This role offers an excellent opportunity to further develop your expertise and advance your career while working alongside some of the leading specialists in this field.

Our national team acts for a diverse range of clients, including major insurers and well-known corporate organisations. We provide strategic and effective claims solutions in some of the most severe and complex cases, including traumatic brain injuries, spinal injuries, amputations, and high-value fatal accident claims. Whether instructed at the pre-litigation stage for early advice and investigation, or during active litigation, our focus is always on delivering clear, commercially focused strategies from the outset.

As a Forensic Collision Investigator, you will work closely with our Complex Injury lawyers to investigate high-value personal injury claims arising from road traffic collisions. The role involves gathering, analysing and interpreting evidence relating to collisions, as well as providing expert insight into liability issues to support our case strategy.

We are seeking an individual with significant experience in collision investigation who can bring a forensic and analytical approach to complex claims. The successful candidate is likely to have previously worked as a Forensic Collision Investigator and will have extensive experience investigating road traffic accidents and assessing the evidence arising from them.

What you will do?
  • To help obtain evidence in civil cases arising out of road traffic collisions.
  • To help secure witness evidence.
  • To provide an expert analysis of road traffic accidents, to be used for internal purposes, in respect of the liability issues in civil claims.
  • Interpret evidence secured, identifying and advising on accuracy and sufficiency of third-party evidence (such as the police collision investigation), to include liaising with police, CPS, and coroners.
  • Undertake site inspections of accident locations.
  • The successful candidate will need strong communication skills as they will be interacting with a broad spectrum of internal and external stakeholders. Internally they will be required to work collegiately with case handlers at all levels as well as other support colleagues. Externally the Role Holder will be required to interact with witnesses, Police and other emergency personnel, Coroners, recovery agents, the general public and our insurer clients.
Who

you are
  • Significant experience as a Collision Investigator, likely with a UK police force, having investigated a broad range of road traffic collisions.
  • Relevant professional qualifications would be very useful, in particular the minimum of UCPD in Forensic Road Collision
  • Investigation or the City and Guilds Certificate in Police Forensic Collision Investigation.
  • Some insight into civil proceedings and the interaction with police investigations and criminal proceedings.
  • Empathy and compassion to help guide our clients through challenging personal circumstances.
  • A friendly, enthusiastic and can-do approach.
What's in it for you?
  • High levels of flexibility and a great work life balance -
  • A well-rounded remuneration package (which includes private medical insurance, income protection insurance and discounted gym membership, amongst many other benefits)
  • Opportunities for growth and progression including professional funding
  • In person and remote social events
  • Opportunity to get involved in a range of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) activities

We are dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive and authentic workplace, which aligns closely to our cultural principles (Determined, Clear, Creative and Supportive). If you are excited about this role and being part of our culture, but your past experience does not align perfectly with every qualification in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyway. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles!
