Transport Planner

Overview

Cherry Professional have partnered with a business who are seeking an organised and proactive Transport Planner to join a busy logistics operation. Responsible for planning and coordinating daily vehicle movements, you will ensure deliveries are completed safely, efficiently, and cost‑effectively while maintaining excellent customer service levels.

You’ll work closely with drivers, warehouse teams, and external haulage providers, adapting quickly to changing customer requirements, breakdowns, and operational challenges.

• Plan and schedule daily vehicle routes and loads.
• Monitor transport operations and respond to changes in real time.
• Liaise with drivers, warehouse teams, customers, and external hauliers.
• Arrange and coordinate third‑party transport when required.
• Manage POD documentation and carry out audit‑standard checks.
• Maintain accurate transport records and administration.
• Validate transport costs and follow internal purchasing procedures.
• Ensure customer delivery requirements are consistently met.

• Previous experience in a Transport Planner, Logistics Coordinator, or similar role.
• Strong route planning and organisational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work to tight deadlines.
• Commercially aware with strong problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Good administrative and IT skills.
• Full understanding of the Working Time Directive (WTD).
• Flexible, customer‑focused, and committed to safe working practices.
