Position: Sales Director - Southern Home Counties - £High Package

This unique and exciting role requires an established and highly professional SD with a proven sales and marketing track record and strategy experience. The SD will need to work beyond the sales and marketing function of our client’s business to contribute to improving the underlying drivers that will promote its continued success in the future. The SD must have experience working at professional board level as part of the senior team in a multi‑million‑pound private business, being comfortable with both detail and strategy to achieve medium and long‑term growth objectives.

Leadership

and Management Ability

The SD will be a key member of the Board and Executive Team, bringing effective leadership and management to drive strategic change. The SD will support the MD and be prepared to step in and provide personal and leadership resources when challenges arise, and will help bring about strategic change to the organisation.

Interpersonal and Communication Styles

The SD must act with the interests of our client first, and demonstrate behaviours that can be respected and trusted. This includes comfort dealing with people from different backgrounds and at all levels, including suppliers, customers and regulatory authorities. The SD must be able to pitch communication styles to suit different audiences when delivering proposals and propositions, and demonstrate flare, enthusiasm and confidence when making presentations to large and small groups.

Characteristics

An outgoing and empathetic disposition is essential for the role, which will include operational and strategic financial responsibilities and acting as a true ambassador for the client’s business. The SD must behave with a positive outlook and lead by example, consistently demonstrating the highest level of corporate responsibility.

Job Skills

A proficient SD must deliver challenge and innovation in strategy and operational matters, have first‑rate relationship building skills, and be adept at influencing and persuading people. The SD will build and develop a high‑performance, integrated sales team, and must understand sales reporting requirements, possess strong writing and presentation skills, and have extensive planning, forecasting and strategic sales management experience gained within a dynamic commercial organisation.

Technology

and Systems Skills

The SD must be knowledgeable about common software applications and capable of recognising opportunities where systems improvements can add value to the business.
