Our client is a well-established specialist engineering and manufacturing business, designing and producing a range of technically specified products supplied into a variety of industrial markets. The company operates through a combination of direct customer engagement and established distribution channels.

Operating within a low-volume, high-mix manufacturing environment, the business combines strong engineering capability with bespoke product solutions. It has an established platform and now requires a more commercially driven approach to accelerate growth, expand its market presence, and identify new opportunities.

A key appointment has arisen for a Managing Director to take full responsibility for the business. The role is broad in scope, with full P&L accountability, and requires a highly commercial, hands-on leader. The priority is to drive revenue growth, identify and develop new markets, and implement a more structured and proactive approach to business development.

The successful candidate will lead from the front, taking direct ownership of commercial activity, developing pipeline, and strengthening both direct and channel-based routes to market. Alongside this, the role requires oversight of operational performance and the introduction of improved systems and processes, including the implementation and effective use of CRM to support sales activity and performance management.

The business requires an entrepreneurial individual who will treat the business as their own, operating with a high degree of autonomy whilst delivering against clear commercial objectives. The environment is well established, with an experienced team in place, and will require a leader who can introduce change, challenge existing practices where necessary, and drive performance in a measured and effective way.

Candidates will bring a proven track record in a senior leadership role within an engineering or technical manufacturing environment, with clear evidence of delivering sales growth and developing new business within B2B markets. Experience of identifying new market opportunities, evaluating commercial potential, and executing growth strategies will be important.

The company operates with a straightforward, non-corporate culture and requires a credible, resilient, and commercially focused leader who is comfortable operating at both strategic and operational levels.

This represents an opportunity for a high calibre, entrepreneurial Managing Director or General Manager to take full ownership of a business with a strong foundation and significant scope for growth.
