Design Manager
Location: Nottingham / Birmingham (mix of site and office-based working)
Salary: 65,000 - 75,000
- Oversee the preconstruction phase of projects, ensuring designs meet client specifications and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to create cost-effective and efficient designs.
- Manage the project design budget and timeline.
- Work closely with the client team, liaising across multiple projects.
- Maintain effective communication with clients to ensure all agreed actions are delivered and any issues are resolved to their satisfaction.
- Lead design team meetings and provide regular updates to senior management on project progress.
- Ensure all projects adhere to company standards and industry regulations.
- Facilitate communication between all project stakeholders to ensure project objectives are met.
- Implement and maintain quality control procedures throughout the design and construction process.
- Proven experience as a Design Manager for a main contractor.
- Experience with in the construction industry, specifically across design and build, new build, and refurbishment projects.
- Strong knowledge of current CDM and Building Regulations.
- Experience managing document control systems.
- Ability to oversee the preconstruction phase of projects, ensuring designs meet client specifications and regulatory requirements.
- Experience collaborating with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to deliver cost-effective and efficient designs.
- Comfortable working closely with client teams across multiple projects.
- Strong communication skills, ensuring all issues are managed and resolved effectively.
- A clear understanding of company standards and industry regulations, ensuring full compliance.
- Ability to coordinate stakeholders effectively to achieve project objectives.
- Experience implementing and maintaining quality control procedures throughout the design and construction lifecycle.
- Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders at all levels, both verbally and in writing.
- Strong commercial awareness with the ability to make informed design and business decisions.
- Excellent planning, organisational, and design management skills.
- Client-focused, with the ability to build and maintain productive working relationships.
