About the RoleWe are recruiting on behalf of a well-established manufacturing and engineering business for an experienced Fettler / Assembly Team Leader to join their production team.
This is a hands‑on leadership role within a busy fabrication and assembly environment, responsible for supporting fettling and assembly operations while helping to drive quality, safety, and output across the shop floor.
The RoleYou will take responsibility for leading and supporting a small team within fettling and assembly, ensuring all work is completed efficiently, safely, and to the required quality standards.
This is a working team leader position, so you will still be actively involved in fettling and assembly duties while overseeing day‑to‑day workflow and supporting production targets.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and support fettling and assembly operations on the shop floor
- Carry out fettling work including de‑burring, grinding, finishing, and cleaning metal components
- Ensure all assembled parts meet quality and specification requirements
- Monitor workflow and support delivery of daily production targets
- Carry out basic quality checks using measuring tools where required
- Maintain high health & safety standards and ensure PPE compliance
- Support, train, and guide team members where needed
- Work closely with production and quality teams to resolve issues quickly
- Assist with continuous improvement on processes and efficiency
- Strong fettling / metal finishing experience is essential
- Background in fabrication, sheet metal, or manufacturing environments
- Previous experience leading or supporting a team (or ready to step up)
- Strong attention to detail and understanding of quality standards
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced production environment
- Physically fit and comfortable with hands‑on work
- Reliable and flexible to work rotating shifts
