Manufacturing Project Engineer
Flexi time. Finish at 12:00 on Friday. Role is focused around NPI projects, supporting customers from concept through to production. The position offers flexibility with a 7:00–15:30 Monday–Thursday schedule and early finish on Fridays.
Location:
Nottingham, Ilkeston, Long Eaton, Hucknall, Heanor region.
Industry: Mechanical precision components into Medical and pharma manufacturing / engineering (plus aerospace, semiconductor and highly regulated industries). The company has a £18m turnover and operates as an agile manufacturing enterprise.
Responsibilities- Full responsibility for planning, implementing, and coordinating customers' new product introduction to ensure smooth delivery from project initiation to start of production.
- Support NPI by ensuring correct procedures are followed through development and release to production, meeting cost, quality, manufacturability, process capability, and delivery standards for a successful launch.
- Oversee defined work packages, including detailed instructions, drawings, bills of material, references, and inspection requirements.
- Apply problem definition, root cause analysis, problem‑solving techniques and failure analysis to maintain high standards of NPI delivery.
- Develop, oversee, and seek continuous improvement of the NPI process, including conducting lessons‑learnt workshops.
- Provide technical and engineering support for customers and internal teams.
- Take full responsibility for project planning, implementation and process documentation.
- Excellent project management skills.
- Proven expertise in manufacturing processes, lean manufacturing and ISO standards.
- Ability to identify and deliver improvements to the manufacturing process in a structured and controlled manner.
- Strong IT literacy skills (MS Project software).
- Ability to present information to audiences of differing skill levels.
- Experience training and developing people or a strong willingness to learn.
- Exposure to highly regulated sectors (aerospace, oil & gas, nuclear, medical, pharmaceutical, automotive) would be beneficial.
- Experience in a 150–200 headcount business, demonstrating an SME mentality and being a doer.
