New Opportunity - Laser Cutting Supervisor

Our client is looking for a Laser Cutter Supervisor to lead their day shift production team in Nottingham. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing engineering business where you ll combine hands-on laser cutting expertise with team leadership, helping to drive productivity, quality, and continuous improvement across the department.
As the new Laser Cutter Supervisor, you will:
- Supervise the day-to-day running of the laser cutting department
- Lead, motivate and support a team of laser operators to achieve production targets
- Allocate workloads and monitor production schedules to ensure customer deadlines are met
- Set up and operate laser cutting machinery when required
- Carry out first-off inspections and ensure products meet customer specifications
- Monitor product quality throughout production and resolve issues quickly
- Work closely with programming, production planning, quality and operations teams to maintain efficient workflow
- Train, mentor and support team members to encourage their development
- Carry out day-to-day people management, including return-to-work meetings and probation reviews where required
- Maintain excellent housekeeping standards throughout the department
- Promote a strong health and safety culture and ensure safe working practices are followed
- Report machinery issues and work alongside the maintenance team to minimise downtime
- Identify opportunities to improve production processes, efficiency and productivity
- Assist with recruitment and onboarding of new team members when required
Main Requirements for This Role
- Previous experience supervising a manufacturing or laser cutting team
- Extensive experience operating industrial laser cutting machinery
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication and manufacturing processes
- Proven ability to manage workloads and prioritise production effectively
- Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Good problem-solving skills
- Computer literate
Desirable Experience
- Experience using Bystronic, Trumpf, Amada or similar laser cutting machinery
- Knowledge of ERP or MRP systems
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement initiatives
- Forklift licence (preferred but not essential)
- First Aid qualification (desirable)

About this role:
- Salary for this role is £17.00 per hour
- This is a full-time, permanent position based in Nottingham
- Working hours are Monday to Friday, 6:00am - 2:00pm
