Trainee Estimator - Hoveringham

Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time

Hours: 37.5 per week, Monday – Friday

Office Based

We are looking for a highly organised and motivated Trainee Estimator to join our Bison team at our Hoveringham site, offering an excellent opportunity to develop your skills and build a rewarding career within a leading manufacturing business.

This position is to produce quotations and generate orders for our range of precast concrete products.

Estimators will be trained to specialise in one of the following 4 disciplines. Additional training may also be provided in other disciplines of the technical services estimating department as deemed necessary by the business.

Discipline # 1: Commercial Estimating

Discipline # 2: HBS Growth

Discipline # 3: Lightweight Facades

Discipline # 4: Bespoke Estimating

• QUOTATIONS
  • Timely and accurate production of quotations in line with customers’ requirements for our range of precast concrete products and lightweight facades.
• COST MANAGEMENT
  • To understand & work to set pricing parameters.
• INFORMATION
  • To have the ability to handle variety of drawing formats for quotation production.
• LIAISON
  • Have a strong telephone manner to contact & discuss external parties when establishing quotation requirements to resolve quotation & technical queries. To also liaise with internal Contracts/ Production/Drawing teams to agree customer requirements & any non-standard details.
• COMMUNICATION
  • Effective, regular communication with the Design, Sales and Transport functions. Ensure detailed

We are looking for someone who has:

• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and related software.
• Highly organised with excellent time management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
• A collaborative team player who can also work independently using their own initiative.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships.
• Confident, approachable, and professional, with a positive and proactive attitude.
• GCSE Grade C or above (or equivalent) in Mathematics and English.
• Strong numeracy and literacy skills, with the ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
• Excellent interpersonal, listening, negotiation, communication, and IT skills.
• Good understanding of construction methods, techniques, and site constraints.
• Ability to read, interpret, and work from technical drawings, plans, and specifications.

• ‘A’ Level – Mathematics, English, Science
• Familiar with working in a target orientated business.
• Willingness to be involved in other activities to achieve company objectives.
