Position: COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR

We are looking for a new Community Development Coordinator to join our team at Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Refugee Forum. The primary responsibility of this role will be to support individuals to develop their skills, confidence and influence, enabling them to establish and sustain groups, shape activities and services, and contribute to decision-making within Nottingham Refugee Forum and the wider community.

The Community Development Coordinator will use community development principles to build capacity, strengthen partnerships and promote meaningful participation and community-led change through a network of refugee-led organisations .

Your main duties will include:

  • Setting up and supporting a network of refugee-led organisations.
  • Organising network meetings to ensure good communication and collaborate on joint work and training.
  • Devising and executing a learning development plan in conjunction with relevant staff and partners.
  • Identifying and organising training to increase practical skills on information, advice and guidance.
  • Supporting refugee-led organisations with governance, finance and fundraising.
  • Develop, promote and facilitate community engagement activities and events, using a community development model to empower individuals and strengthen community participation.
  • Coordinating a Lived Experience Advisory Group (LEAG) to provide feedback on service development at Nottingham Refugee Forum and promote client engagement at all levels of the organisation.
  • Ensuring volunteers and LEAG members receive relevant support and training.
  • Designing and implementing an effective monitoring and evaluation system for the project.
  • Supporting refugee-led organizations to develop their own monitoring and evaluation systems.
  • Collating data and writing reports to demonstrate impact and influence practice.

We are looking for someone with community development experience, including working with volunteers and facilitating groups or events. Experience with refugees and asylum seekers, service user groups, and service evaluation would be desirable.

You will need strong organisational, communication and IT skills, the ability to engage people from diverse backgrounds, build effective relationships, and understand safeguarding.

You should also demonstrate a strong commitment to supporting refugees and asylum seekers, equality, diversity and confidentiality, with a friendly, approachable and cooperative approach and the ability to work independently.

Salary: £29,933.61 per annum

Hours: 37 hours per week (evenings and weekends may be required)

Contract: Permanent (subject to funding)
