We are a mission-driven, global non-profit social enterprise that manages a highly refined bicycle supply chain from design through final distribution. World Bicycle Relief uses an innovative business model to create sustainable bicycle ecosystems. Through World Bicycle Relief's 501(c)3, we provide transport solutions to those who cannot afford them, and through Buffalo Bicycle Ltd, we sell the rugged Buffalo Bicycle and spare parts.
Buffalo Bicycle Ltd also offers users repair and maintenance services via a retail network of shops and local mechanics. World Bicycle Relief has distributed over 1,000,000 fit-for-purpose bicycles and trained 4,000+ community-based mechanics. Girls with Buffalo Bicycles are 19% less likely to drop out of school; business owners see 53% more revenue; and health workers serve 63% more households.
The Development Coordinator is central to driving and expanding World Bicycle Relief's development and advocacy work in the UK through the delivery of events and communications, helping mobilize more people through the Power of Bicycles.
Working closely with the UK team, Global Events Manager, leadership team, and other colleagues, the role provides high-level coordination and administrative support across strategic priorities and external engagement, principally events and communications supporting W ’s developing influencing and advocacy strategy in the UK.
The role will support high-profile activities including W 's presence at Skoll World Forum, London Climate Action Week, and events around the G20 summit in the UK. It will also help identify opportunities with external partners, undertake market analysis, build a network of contacts, and ensure compelling information about W 's work is shared effectively.
Job Responsibilities Events Coordination and DeliveryProvide end-to-end operational support for specific UK events, including liaising with venues, partners, and suppliers; obtaining quotes; coordinating travel and logistics; working with production teams; preparing materials; producing risk assessments; and creating event documentation such as briefs, schedules, and post-event evaluations.
Represent W UK at events, including acting as an Event Day Lead. Recruit and manage volunteers supporting events and prepare and maintain related volunteer documentation and records.
Communications, Advocacy, and PartnershipsDraft communications and materials to support advocacy and partnerships, working with internal and external suppliers as required. Maintain a database of UK journalists, agencies, and other organizations relevant to W ’s advocacy and partnerships work, and liaise with them as needed.
Build and maintain relationships with key organizations and individuals in the UK influencing and advocacy space, including funding partners, and support opportunities for collaboration, events, and external engagement.
Research and Stakeholder AnalysisUndertake market and stakeholder analysis to build business intelligence across influencing and fundraising. Identify relevant trends, organizations, networks, events, and opportunities that can inform W ’s events, communications, advocacy, and partnership activity in the UK.
