We are delighted to offer a fantastic opportunity to join our well‑established team of 14 Neonatal ACPs at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (NUH) – one of the UK's largest and most respected teaching hospitals.
Working within our Level 2 and Level 3 Neonatal Intensive Care Units, you will be a vital part of a multi‑professional team providing high‑quality, family‑centred care to critically ill and premature neonates. This is more than just a job – it’s a chance to make a lasting impact, grow as a leader in neonatal care, and be part of a compassionate, expert team that puts babies and their families at the heart of everything we do.

Job responsibilitiesThe ACNP works at the interface between nursing and medical care, using advanced clinical knowledge and skills to work independently, with support from a Consultant Neonatologist for clinical supervision. This includes out‑of‑hours work with telephone support.
The post holder promotes a high standard of advanced clinical nursing and medical care by initiating and coordinating the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of the holistic needs of babies, parents/carers and families through evidence‑based clinical practice following agreed policies, protocols and guidelines.
An advanced clinical practitioner exercises independent judgement to provide all elements of clinical care using a holistic, family‑centred approach, which may include assessment, planning, provision of care and treatment, diagnosis, investigation, referral, evaluation, transfer, discharge and follow‑up.
ACNPs contribute to Tier 2 (Middle Grade/SpR/ST 4‑7) or Tier 1 (SHO/ST 1‑3) rota and clinical nursing shifts; the work pattern is determined by experience and competence. Progression from Tier 1 to Tier 2 is possible as experience is gained.
