Quality Manager – Precision Engineering
Location:
Nottingham
Salary: c £50,000 to £55,000
Benefits – Scope for a 4 day week
Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time
A leading precision engineering manufacturer is seeking an experienced Quality Manager to join its senior leadership team. This is an excellent opportunity for a quality professional with a strong manufacturing background to take ownership of the Quality Management System and drive continuous improvement across a highly regulated engineering environment. Working closely with Production, Engineering, Inspection, and Senior Management teams, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring compliance, improving quality performance, and delivering exceptional customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain and continuously improve the company's ISO 9001 Quality Management System.
- Ensure quality procedures, processes, and documentation remain compliant and up to date.
- Lead internal and external audits, ensuring successful outcomes.
- Manage corrective and preventive actions arising from audits and non‑conformances.
- Oversee inspection and quality assurance activities throughout the manufacturing process.
- Monitor product quality and ensure adherence to engineering drawings and customer specifications.
- Lead investigations into quality issues using structured root cause analysis techniques.
- Drive reductions in scrap, rework, customer complaints, and the overall cost of poor quality.
- Act as the primary point of contact for customer quality concerns and audits.
- Manage customer complaint investigations and ensure timely resolution.
- Support supplier quality activities, including supplier audits and performance reviews.
- Proven experience as a Quality Manager within a precision engineering, machining, or manufacturing environment (a skilled Engineer looking to develop into Management may also be suitable).
- Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
- Experience leading internal and external audits.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and customer specifications.
- Strong understanding of root cause analysis and corrective action methodologies.
- Experience managing customer complaints and non‑conformance processes.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and quality reporting systems.
- Desirable: HNC/HND or Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or Quality Management.
- Desirable:
Lead Auditor qualification. - Desirable:
Experience with in aerospace, defence, oil & gas, or other highly regulated industries. - Desirable:
Knowledge of FAIRs, PPAPs, APQP, 8D, and Lean Manufacturing techniques. - Desirable:
Lean Six Sigma or Continuous Improvement qualification.
