Recognised as the UK Technical Centre of Excellence, the site specialises in precision machining of aluminium, titanium, and hardened steels. Equipped with advanced technologies, the facility leverages the latest manufacturing innovations and software to drive ongoing business growth and ensure operational excellence.
Job Summary:
The Quality Inspector will work closely with the manufacturing teams at Nottingham inspecting of components in process and at final inspection.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create, Manage and Review FAIRs in accordance with AS9102.
- Ensuring compliance with standards from regulatory authorities.
- Department procedures including technique sheets and standard operating procedures.
- Visual inspection of customer components to drawings.
- Covering all types of inspection from good in, first offs and final inspection
- Inspection of components using hand measuring equipment to ensure parts are conforming to drawing requirements.
- Inspection of components using CMM’s/Scanning Arms when required.
- Support production requirements as a member of the inspection team.
- Liaise with other shop floor areas on matters relating to product conformance as necessary.
- Strong background in Quality Inspection / Metrology / CMM
- Previously inspected machined components for high profile industries such as Aerospace, Defence, Motorsport, Automotive, Oil & Gas, Nuclear, Petrochemical etc.
- Ability to interpret CMM reports.
- Ability to self-inspect parts using manual measuring equipment - micrometers, verniers, calipers, gauges etc.
- Confident reading and interpreting engineering drawings
- Working with relevant departments to manage department priorities.
- Support Continuous Improvement activities identifying ways to improve the processes.
- Perform dimensional, visual and documentation inspection on incoming parts and outgoing products.
- Participate in Root Cause Failure Mode investigations.
- Document product quality issues / concerns.
- The ideal candidate will have:
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.

- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to operate as an effective team member.
- A self-motivated approach and a proactive attitude.
- Ability and willingness to learn new skills and abilities through on the job training.
- Knowledge of AS9102
- Experience with in an aerospace manufacturing environment.
- Experience as a final inspector in a manufacturing organisation.
- Strong background in Quality Inspection / Metrology / CMM
- Ability to operate CMMs and/or Faro Arms - PC-Dimis or similar would be advantageous
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally with exposure to a process environment operating under BSI standards.
- It will be necessary for all applicants for this job to be able to prove that they are legally entitled to work in the UK.
