We are looking for a Testing and Quality Engineering Manager to join our team.

We are on an important journey at NBS, moving away from relying predominantly on packages provided by other companies towards building and owning more of our own platforms, supported by a smaller and more focused number of integrated solutions.

We need an experienced testing and quality engineering leader to help us take the next step. You will drive our journey towards greater automation while recognising the important role of manual testing and user acceptance testing. Your work will help us become more efficient, improve safety and quality, and deploy changes more quickly and confidently.

We have already made a great start, but we are looking for someone with the leadership, experience and ambition to help us write the next chapter.

Here’s a taste of what you will be doing as our Testing and Quality Engineering Manager:

• Shape our testing strategy: Define and own our organisation-wide testing and quality engineering strategy, covering integrated, system, end-to-end, regression and user acceptance testing.
• Lead our automation journey: Develop and deliver an automation-first roadmap that increases automated test coverage, reduces unnecessary manual effort and improves the speed and quality of delivery.
• Embed quality throughout delivery: Work closely with Technology, Delivery, Data and business leaders to ensure quality is considered throughout the delivery lifecycle, rather than only at the final testing stage.
• Modernise our testing capability: Drive the adoption of continuous testing, CI/CD-integrated testing, API testing, performance testing and AI-assisted testing capabilities.
• Strengthen testing governance: Establish clear testing standards, frameworks, controls and quality measures, applying appropriate challenge and risk assessment across the delivery portfolio.
• Lead effective user acceptance testing: Create consistent enterprise UAT standards and strengthen business engagement, ownership and accountability throughout the testing process.
• Develop a high-performing team: Lead, coach and develop Test Leads, Test Analysts and Automation Engineers, supporting regular feedback, career development and succession planning.
• Manage capability and capacity: Oversee testing resources, recruitment, capability planning and supplier relationships to ensure the right skills and support are available across the portfolio.
• Provide clear delivery assurance: Report on quality, risks, defects, release readiness and testing effectiveness, helping senior stakeholders make informed decisions.
• Drive continuous improvement: Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, optimise costs and create a safer, faster and more effective testing function.

• Testing and quality engineering leadership: You will bring extensive experience of leading an enterprise testing or quality engineering function, with a strong record of defining and implementing testing strategies.
• Transformation experience: You have successfully delivered significant testing transformation and automation programmes, improving quality and efficiency while reducing reliance on manual processes.
• Broad testing knowledge: You have deep knowledge of integrated, system, end-to-end, regression, automation and user acceptance testing.
• Automation and CI/CD expertise: You understand quality engineering, automation frameworks, CI/CD, continuous testing and test governance within modern technology environments.
• Agile and Dev Ops understanding: You have a strong understanding of Agile, Dev Ops and product-led delivery models, and know how testing can be successfully embedded within them.
• Strategic and data-driven: You can use metrics, evidence and risk-based approaches to assess quality, challenge decisions and influence delivery outcomes.
• Senior stakeholder influence: You are comfortable operating within executive, leadership and portfolio governance forums, communicating complex quality and testing considerations clearly.
• People leadership: You have experience building capability, developing talent and creating succession plans within testing and quality engineering teams.
