Residential Development & Strategic Land.
Nottingham.
Cognisant is working with a privately owned developer looking to appoint an RTPI-qualified Senior Planner or Planning Manager. The business is active across strategic land, residential and mixed-use development, with a strong pipeline of sites at different stages of the planning process. The role will involve working across both existing development opportunities and new strategic sites, helping to move schemes through the planning system and into delivery.
Key areas will include:
- Managing planning applications across residential and mixed-use schemes
- Supporting the promotion of strategic land
- Coordinating external planning consultants and wider project teams
- Reviewing planning policy and identifying development opportunities
- Managing planning conditions, obligations and associated agreements
- Working closely with Land, Technical and Development teams
- Engaging with local authorities and other key stakeholders
We're looking for someone who is RTPI qualified, with a background in residential development, strategic land or planning consultancy.
This could suit someone with 2+ years' experience who is looking to take on more responsibility and get closer to the development process.
You might currently be working in consultancy, a local authority or for another developer. The key is that you understand the planning process, can manage your own workload and are comfortable working across a number of live and emerging sites. For someone coming from consultancy or local authority, it's a good opportunity to move client-side and gain wider exposure to land, technical, commercial and development decisions rather than focusing purely on the planning application itself.
Equally, an existing Senior Planner or Planning Manager within a house builder or developer could suit the role well.
