About the role:

Bioscientists at Sygnature Discovery play essential roles in supporting and leading integrated client projects as well as developing and delivering customised biological screening assays to drive structure-activity relationships for preclinical drug discovery campaigns.

We are seeking talented Scientists who can help push the boundaries of our capabilities by contributing to the discovery of new drugs across a broad range of projects, molecular targets, and therapeutic indications. You should have recently completed a PhD in a relevant Biology-related discipline that translates well to Bioscience-based drug discovery or have relevant industrial experience within a drug discovery environment.

Please note that this is a full-time, fixed-term, lab-based position based at our Alderley Park site.

Whether you are a Scientist looking to transition from academia to the pharmaceutical industry and jumpstart your career in drug discovery, or a Senior Scientist who has a good understanding in the application of drug discovery and is seeking broader exposure to biology, disease areas, screening platforms, and therapeutic modalities - we would love to hear from you!

Role Responsibilities:
  • Undertakes training activities that will develop an understanding of biochemical, cellular, and biophysical screening techniques.
  • Deploys to client projects, developing and delivering bespoke screening assays as required.
  • Designs and executes experiments independently.
  • Identifies and solves problems associated with own experiments and those of other team members when appropriate.
  • Presents scientific findings, interpretations, and recommendations to key project stakeholders.
  • May take on a leadership role with significant level of technical and scientific supervision within Bioscience only projects.
Skills &

Qualifications:
  • Ideally you will be close to submission or have a PhD in a Biology-specific discipline with substantial practical research experience in areas that align with our project portfolio e.g. cell biology, pharmacology, biochemistry, biophysics, or enzymology. Relevant industry experience within a drug discovery environment will also be considered.
  • Experience of biochemical, biophysical or cellular technologies as applied to compound screening would be an advantage, and a strong scientific track record with experience built within a drug discovery environment is highly desirable.
  • A strong interest in drug discovery, coupled with an awareness of current and emerging industry trends, is expected.
  • Ability to develop novel assays from first principles and interpret complex biological datasets.
  • Aptitude for proactive trouble‑shooting and adoption of industry‑leading practices for generation and analysis of robust scientific data.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a larger team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and an ability to present complex scientific ideas and datasets to key stakeholders.
  • Willingness to learn new processes, interacting with state‑of‑the‑art equipment and data analysis software.
  • 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays)
