Apprentice Laboratory Technician – Nottingham Site

Full-Time | Permanent | Monday to Friday | 40 hours per week

Are you passionate about science and eager to get hands‑on experience in a real laboratory environment? We have an exciting opportunity for an Apprentice Laboratory Technician to join our friendly team at our Hartshill site.

Whether you’re just starting your career or looking to gain practical experience alongside further learning, this role will provide a solid foundation in laboratory science and analytical techniques, with full training and support provided.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll play a key role in supporting the day‑to‑day operations of our lab, learning as you go. Your tasks will include:

  • Carrying out routine wet chemistry testing on various samples.
  • Learning and maintaining traditional lab techniques, as well as how to operate modern automated equipment.
  • Helping to keep the lab running smoothly with general housekeeping and stock monitoring.
  • Recording and interpreting test results, and supporting the team in flagging anything out of the ordinary.
  • Performing quality checks on equipment and procedures, keeping accurate records in line with industry standards.
  • Following set processes with attention to detail and accuracy.
Who We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone enthusiastic, reliable, and ready to learn. Ideally, you will:

  • Have GCSEs (or equivalent) in Chemistry or a related science subject.
  • Be curious about how things work and enjoy problem‑solving.
  • Have a strong awareness of health and safety in the workplace.
  • Be confident using computers, including tools like Microsoft Word and Excel (and willing to learn others like LIMS).
  • Communicate clearly and work well both on your own and in a team.
  • Be motivated, organised, and ready to take on new challenges.

Prior experience in a lab is a bonus, but not essential — we’re more interested in your potential, attitude, and willingness to learn.

Why join us?

You’ll be joining a supportive environment where your growth is our priority. This role is a great stepping stone for a career in science or technical support — and you’ll gain real‑world experience that future employers (and qualifications) will value.

Ready to start your journey in the world of science?
Apply today and become part of a team that’s passionate about quality, discovery, and development.
