£32,080 to £47,389per annum, depending on skills and experience (minimum £35608 with relevant PhD).

The purpose of this role will be to support researchers within the Centre of Metabolism and Ageing Physiology (CoMAP) research team, an internationally renowned research group, in conducting research in the area of skeletal muscle metabolism with ageing and clinical conditions where muscle mass loss or maintenance is important in disease progression, the important role of muscle in health and disease is often overlooked.

This role will primarily include using mass spectrometric approaches/instrumentation, the facility houses 11 mass spectrometers of varying configuration and molecular biological approaches to study muscle protein turnover and metabolism, primarily in humans. You will be expected to undertake independent research, as well as working as part of a team, and contribute to writing up this work for publication, public dissemination and future grant applications.

You will have the opportunity to use your initiative and creativity to identify areas for research, develop research methods and greatly extend your research portfolio and expertise.
