We're seeking an experienced Associate Principal Scientist with expertise in kidney disease to join the In Vivo Pharmacology team, providing scientific leadership across complex, client-sponsored drug discovery programmes. Experience in inflammation would also be advantageous.
You'll design, lead and deliver high-quality in vivo studies at the forefront of translational science, shaping experimental strategy and driving scientific innovation across multiple therapeutic projects.
Responsibilities- Lead the design, execution and interpretation of in vivo pharmacology studies within kidney and/or inflammation disease programmes
- Act as Project Lead, coordinating multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, timely outcomes for client projects
- Provide scientific leadership and technical expertise, guiding experimental strategy and solving complex research challenges
- Drive innovation, implementing novel experimental approaches and technologies to enhance project success
- Collaborate closely with internal teams and external clients on study design, data interpretation and scientific discussions
- Support and mentor team members; line management responsibilities may form part of the role
- PhD in a relevant discipline with industry or postdoctoral drug discovery experience, or a BSc/MSc with substantial industry experience in drug discovery
- Strong expertise in kidney disease (inflammation experience advantageous)
- Proven experience applying in vivo pharmacology models in drug discovery; expertise in relevant ex vivo assays highly desirable
- Experience with end-to-end drug discovery workflows and industrial drug discovery advantageous
- Strong understanding of UK regulations governing in vivo research
- Demonstrated experience in study design, oversight and data interpretation
Strong organisational and project management skills, able to manage multiple projects simultaneously - Effective communicator with proven ability to collaborate across teams and with clients
