About the Police Constable Entry Programme

Our Police Constable Entry Programme is our new and improved two-year work-based scheme aimed at people who wish to become a Police Constable through a more vocational route with no studying towards a degree. You will undertake a period of initial learning across 24 weeks at our Training Centre, followed by operational coaching and training in the wider force. The training includes a blended approach of both classroom based and practical on-the-job learning whilst being supported by experienced colleagues.

Ensuring our Police Officers have plenty of development opportunities is high on our agenda; once you have successfully completed the two year probationary period you will be able to consider further opportunities including promotion and specialisms within the Force including Firearms, Police Dogs, working in Complex Investigations, our Drone department or on Roads Policing; the possibilities are limitless! For more information, check out our website.

After your initial training you will be based at locations throughout the county to meet the demands of the organisation, with the requirement to work anywhere in the force. You will work 40 hours per week working rotating shifts after initial training (this includes weekends, nights and bank holidays with a shift pattern over 365/6 days a year)

You are not able to progress for more than one entry route; please apply for the route which is most suited to you, this includes both Police Constable and Detective Constable positions.
