Compensation

Salary £35,687 to £42,393 per annum inclusive of £5,947 shift allowance. Posts are offered at the minimum salary point with progression via annual incremental pay rises.

Location

University of Nottingham campuses across the UK.

Role Overview

Working across all university sites, you will supervise security patrol officers, gatehouse officers and control room staff, allocating resources to ensure sites are covered at all times. You will act as the security representative at major incidents and lead the Security Services in the absence of the Security Management Team.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise patrol officers, gatehouse security officers and control room staff.
  • Allocate resources to maintain site coverage.
  • Act as the security representative during major incidents.
  • Submit reports; review, amend and monitor crime prevention and reduction measures.
  • Ensure control room, CCTV and out‑of‑hours procedures are kept up to date and adhered to.
Qualifications
  • Supervisory experience in a security‑related or customer service role.
  • Ability to make independent decisions under pressure.
  • Proven leadership and motivational skills.
  • Experience with security operations technology.
  • SIA Licence – Door Supervisor and CCTV Operator.
  • Full UK Category B driving licence (manual) with no automatic‑only restriction (code 78).
Conditions

Full UK Category B driving licence is required. Basic background checks with the Disclosure and Barring Service are mandatory.

Working Hours

Full‑time (36.25 hrs per week). Rotational 12‑hour shifts over a 24‑hour period: 4 on/4 off, comprising 2 days 7 am‑7 pm and 2 nights 7 pm‑7 am, followed by 4 days off. Flexibility to work any shift required; job share may be considered.
