Job Title: Social Worker - Assessment Service (Children's Services)

Location: Nottingham (Hybrid Working)

Contract: Temporary - 12 Weeks

Start Date: 30 March 2026

Hours: 37 hours per week

Rate:

  • PAYE: £152.18 per day
  • Umbrella/Limited: £207.26 per day
  • Working Pattern: Hybrid - approximately 50% office-based with 5 set office days per month
Social Worker - Assessment Service (Children & Families)

Ribble Recruitment is currently assisting a local authority with the recruitment of a Qualified Social Worker to join their Assessment Service within Children and Families.

This role focuses on completing child and family assessments and safeguarding work, ensuring children and young people receive appropriate support, protection, and interventions when required.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with families, partner agencies, and internal teams to identify risks, assess needs, and develop effective plans to safeguard and support children.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake Child and Family Assessments, including Section 47 investigations where required.
  • Lead initial Child in Need meetings and Child Protection Conferences.
  • Assess children's strengths, needs, vulnerabilities, and risks in line with statutory guidance.
  • Develop and implement outcome-focused plans to support children and families.
  • Maintain accurate and timely case recordings within the council's electronic case management system.
  • Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners including education, health, and police services.
  • Participate in team meetings, supervision, and case discussions.
  • Contribute to service development and continuous improvement within the team.
Requirements
  • Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration.
  • Experience with in Children's Services, particularly assessment or safeguarding teams.
  • Strong understanding of child protection processes and safeguarding legislation.
  • Experience completing child and family assessments and Section 47 enquiries.
  • Ability to manage a caseload independently while working within a team environment.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and report writing skills.
Compliance Requirements

Candidates must have:

  • Social Work England registration
  • Enhanced DBS
  • 5 years employment references/work history
  • Right to work in the UK
  • DfE declaration
