Position: Sports Coordinator Intern (Male)

Location

Work will be based in the Baca office in Loughborough. The role includes living in one of our semi independent houses, which are all in Loughborough. The role will also occasionally require travel around Nottingham and Leicester.

Hours and Working Arrangement

15 hours per week with some flexibility as to when these hours are outworked. This is a voluntary role although benefits include the option of free accommodation in one of the Baca houses (or finding alternative accommodation at your own expense in Loughborough), which also includes utilities, council tax and WiFi. Training courses are also included.

Start date:

August/September 2022, slightly negotiable.

Contract:

Either 6 months or 1 year fixed term.

Overall Purpose
  • To play an active role in organising all sporting events for the young people
  • To be a positive role model to the young people
  • To be a big brother to the young people living in the same house
Areas of Responsibility
  • Manage the allocated sports budget
  • Research, plan and organise sport for weekly Saturday afternoon sessions
  • Research, plan and organise team sports for half term breaks
  • Support young people in attending sport taster sessions to increase their experiences and knowledge of opportunities
  • Support young people join weekly sporting activities that they enjoy within the community
  • Develop a database of sports contacts within the local community. Help promote Baca and build positive partnerships
  • Oversee care leavers as potential Sport Work Experience volunteers
  • Play an active role in organising the summer programme with other team leaders
  • Play an active role in organising the annual residential week away for the young people
  • Build positive relationships with the young people; especially those living in the same house
  • Assist young people with house moves; to settle into the house when they move in, but also as they move out to independent housing
  • Assist young people living in the same house with daily life skills and basic house maintenance matters such as weekly cleaning, correct use of bins and changing light bulbs
  • Encourage and assist young people to engage with their local community BFVM

  • Support young people to settle into a routine which will include education and social activities
  • Maintain excellent communication with team members through regular reporting
  • Play an active role in the cross team support of continually encouraging improved physical and emotional wellbeing with our young people

  • Take ownership of files allocated, ensuring they are up to date and stored correctly
  • Maintain strict confidentiality in relation to work undertaken and ensure all confidential material is stored according to Baca's Confidentiality statement and Data Protection Policy

The applicant will need to be able to work flexible hours, as some evening and weekend work will be required.
