Job Summary
YMCA Robin Hood Group runs dedicated accommodation for 16-24 year olds based in Nottingham city centre. We are recruiting for a Housing Duty Worker to join our busy, friendly and diverse Supported Housing team.
We are looking for responsible, trustworthy and compassionate people to oversee the smooth running of our building and reception area as well as acting as the first point of contact for many of our residents where you will signpost them to the specific help they need.
The full time staff work on a rotational basis on shift 0700 – 1500, 1500 – 2300 and 2300 – 0700.
ResponsibilitiesBeing a Housing Duty Worker is one of the busiest and most varied roles in our service; you will cover everything from:
- Monitoring CCTV
- Being there to provide advice and assistance to our Residents
- Providing keys/replacements where needed.
- Signing in Visitors
- Daily administration
- Security of the building
- Cleaning support
and anything else that might crop up while you are on shift!
You will also support applications from prospective residents, helping with form filling in etc as well as signposting other organisations who may be able to help them.
QualificationsWe are looking for someone ideally with experience or interested in gaining experience working in supported housing with vulnerable adults and young people aged 16-24 years old. You will need to have an understanding of the needs of young people who may have drug, alcohol and other issues.
However, we are also happy and able to give you the training and development to start your career in Housing. We can provide you on-the-job training and also formal, accredited training with an external provider.
Regardless of your background, you will be confident to deal with difficult situations and handle conflict appropriately.
SkillsThis role will really push your personal skills as we are looking for someone, regardless of experience who can:
- Work with minimal supervision, use initiative, work alone and work as part of a team
- Respond quickly and effectively to emergencies
- Deal with conflict, manage aggressive behaviour and diffuse situations effectively
- Talk to people of all background and abilities, with excellent communication skills
- Form and maintain relationships with appropriate professional boundaries, acting as a role model for our residents.
