Nottingham (Multiple Locations: Bulwell Family Hub & Mary Potter Centre, Hyson Green)
£27 LTD per hour (inclusive of holiday pay)
£20.17 per hour (exclusive of holiday pay)
Full-Time – 37 hours per week
Nottingham City Council is recruiting for a Family Help Worker to support children, young people, and families across the city. This is an excellent opportunity for qualified Social Workers, including newly qualified candidates, looking to gain hands-on experience working directly with families.

This is NOT a Social Work position, but a Social Work qualification is required.
Key Requirements
Must hold a Social Work Qualification
Full UK driving licence, access to a vehicle, and willingness to travel across Nottingham City and surrounding areas
Experience working with children, young people, and families
Ability to complete assessments, plans, and work within multi-agency settings
Strong safeguarding knowledge and understanding of child development
Role Overview This role involves working directly with families in their homes, family hubs, schools, and community settings. You will play a key role in delivering early help support and improving outcomes for children and families.
Key Responsibilities
Complete Early Help Assessments and develop multi-agency action plans using the Signs of Safety framework
Act as Lead Professional, coordinating and chairing Team Around the Family (TAF) meetings
Support children and families under Child in Need and Child Protection Plans
Deliver trauma-informed, relational practice interventions for children aged 0–19
Work collaboratively with multi-agency professionals to achieve sustainable change
Support families to build resilience and reduce reliance on services
Maintain accurate case records and use electronic systems effectively
Participate in duty systems, supervision, and ongoing professional development
Working Pattern
37 hours per week
Core hours: 8:30am – 4:50pm
Flexibility required to meet the needs of children and families
Experience & Skills
Experience completing assessments and working with families
Ability to chair multi-agency meetings
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
Ability to manage complex cases and work under pressure
Experience working with vulnerable individuals from diverse backgrounds
Confident using IT systems and maintaining accurate records
Additional Requirements
Willingness to work flexibly, including outside standard hours
Must be willing to undertake an enhanced DBS check
